John Sutherland Whitewright started the Gotch-Robinson Training Institute in Tsing Chou Fu soon after his arrival in China in 1881. The school was under Whitewright's direction, assisted by Alfred G. Jones, and J. Percy Bruce, until his removal to Tsinan in 1904.
