Tibetan man heading barley, Nantong, Jiangsu, China, ca. 1900-1932

Physical Description:
13.8 x 8.7 cm
Notes:
This is a sample Tibetan, our next door neighbor. He is heading barley. He can read and write Tibetan and teaches a number of Tibetan children. He is ordinarily well dressed but unlike the educated Chinese is not too good to do manual work when necessary. For strong stalwart men the Tibetans are ahead of any people I have seen.
