Églomisé glass; gilding
Sack catalogue description: Banjo clock with original églomisé glass panels, spiral gilt border, gilt base bracket and original carved and gilded eagle ornament; the paintings are of masterpiece quality from both the level of artistic technique and beauty of composition, the background is a soft buff color, the base panel depicts an allegoric representation of the New Republic with flags and female figures flanking a shield with the Seal of the United States in red, blue and gilt; the scene is in a white oval with gilt leaf border and gilt and red spandrels, the waist panel is of lacy design and related colors. ----- Bibliography: Book: American Antiques from Israel Sack Collection, 10 vols.
