Sack catalogue description: Sheraton gilt mirror, baluster columns with acanthus capitals, the crest is centered by a triangular églomisé glass panel in gilt and white in carved border; the crest supporting a superbly sculptured eagle holding drapery chains which connect to elliptical beaded urns with flaming torches, standing on columns with ram's head terminals. American or English. In brochure 23, we illustrated record P3764; recently we acquired its companion (record P4056) which, while not a mate, is patently by the same hand and which is for all practical purposes the same size. Thus, the mirrors will serve as a pair of a quality seldom rivaled; P4056 is illustrated in Nutting, Furniture Treasury, pl. 3032.
