Sack catalogue description: Sheraton mahogany serving table, serpentine front and sides with turret corners, the waterleaf capitals in star punch or snowflake background and parallel ringed top border are related to the documented William Hook pieces in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (see Randall, American Furniture in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, pl. 70, 100); tapered reeded legs with carved capitals, the arrangement of a row of three small drawers below the long top drawer is a variation, the table exhibits finely chosen veneered figures and falls into a small choice group of serpentine Salem serving tables of slender Sheraton design. This table bears a relationship to two serving tables in the Karolik collection, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; attributed to William Hook. Related objects: Book: Richard H.
