Sack catalogue description: Pair of Queen Anne walnut balloon-seat side chairs, the crests with finely carved shells join undulating stiles, cabriole legs with shell and floral-carved knees end in early claw-and-ball feet; turned stretchers, original slip seat frames and old or original finish, the chairs exhibit a bold, masculine character; Townsend-Goddard school.
