Mahogany; enamel; marble; brass
Notes:
Sack catalogue description: Classical mahogany banjo clock with a unique tablet of veined dark green marble with white marble opening of thistle pattern, the leaf-carved lyre waist encloses a thermometer inscribed "S. Regan N. York," the enamel dial encloses a striking mechanism; the scroll terminals are enhanced by brass bird ornaments flanking a center brass finial. The rarity of this clock consists not only in the rare use of marble, but in the fact that few, if any, examples of banjo clocks of New York origin exist.
