View of the cottage, owned by the fashionable toy dealer Mrs. Chenevix, that once stood on the land in Twickenham that was purchased in 1748 by Horace Walpole and named Strawberry Hill. The small brown house stands at center, much of its exterior walls covered with ivy. Green meadows spread across the surrounding land; the Thames is barely visible in the distance. A few small trees grow beside the house and two trees nearer the viewer frame the image on either side. Several hedgerows cross the lawn in front of the cottage; a man walks with a stick on the road in the foreground.
