- Abstract:
- First of three MS fragments [c. 1739-41], apparently parts of an Application for one sermon, rewritten for repreaching, or parts of Applications for more than one sermon. The first contains Uses I-III, beginning, "I. Call upon and exhort all that are in a natural condition now at this time fo turn from their sins to God." The second fragment contains another Use III: "I would apply myself to such as have an interest in the Lord Jesus Christ." Fragment three, dating from the fall or winter of 1739-40, contains the last part of a first Use; p. 8 begins "Secondly. Consider how excellent a state you are invited to." JE preached on this text Feb. 2, 1742, at Westborough (Parkman Diary, in Tracy, Great Awakening, 204).
