Title engraved below image. Printmaker, state, publisher, and date from Paulson. Caption on either side of title, begins: "This said the high, outragious Mettle, Of Knight, began to cool and settle ..." Numbered "10" in upper right corner. Sotheby's, F.E. Sotheby Sale, lot 215 (Hogarth's works) to Maggs for W.S. Lewis; 21 Nov. 1955; Acquisition no.: 955-11-21-92. Purchased as a bound collection of 97 prints with Sotheby bookplate; disbound January 1984. Formerly owned by Frederick Edward Sotheby of Ecton, Northants, 1837-1909.
Hudibras has arrested the fiddler with a wooden leg and is leading him to prison (seen on the left) while Ralpho attaches his violin to the stocks; a ragged child with a hoop, a well-dressed woman, and two young man look on.
