Probably from: A series of original portraits and caricature etchings by the late John Kay (1877). Title from item. Numbered in lower left of plate: 47. Place and date of imprint conjectured from that of book. Restrike of no 6691 in the Catalogue of prints and drawings in the British Museum. Division I, political and personal satires, v. 6.
A porter is shown beating Captain Crawford with a stick. Behind the pair is Miss Hay of Mountblairy and Crawford's sister who wields her own stick. An imaginary incident based on Captain Crawford's 1784 threat against the printmaker.
