"Image is of Yax Pas, sixteenth king of Copan (reigned 763-822), attired as Ah Pitz, "ballplayer," according to the glyphs. His sceptre is in the form of an eye with attached nerve stalk, symbol of death by sacrifice. Red pigment is hematite or cinnabar.
