Notes:
The Tsusenin is where the guests wait to go into the Teigyoku tea room (chashitsu). Sowa was a contemporary of Kobori Enshu, with similar interest in courtly style of tea. His family had been followers of Hideyoshi; he refused to join Ieyasu against Toyotomi, was disowned by his family, became a priest and tea master.
