Inscribed by the artist writing right to left, on right side of sheet: ‘pagol data vechia p[er]/ vedere le machie de/ lle pietre tedesscé (Paolo of Tarecchia to see the marks in the German stones); and along lower edge, the second line cut off: ‘fa co[n]che dove lac[q]ua’ (make locks where the water)
