Horizontal Peak Accelerations from the Whittier Earthquake

Published/Created:
1987
Notes:
A more objective measure of earthquake forces is Peak Acceleration measured on strong motion seismographs. The measure is equivalent to a percent of the force of gravity (%g). The slide illustrates how the local and regional geology define the areas of most violent ground shaking. (California OES from CDMG data). Digitized from a set of 35 mm slides from AIA/ACSA Council on Architectural Research; showing details effect of earthquake on building structures.
