Sack catalogue description: Pair of Sheraton mahogany side chairs, beautiful drapery-carved splats with pyramidal molded and carved column framed by scrolls, arched crest with raised carved panel; tapered molded legs, stretchers, fine bronze patina. Attributed to John Aitken; a chair (or chairs) with identical backs but with inlaid legs at Mount Vernon were made for George Washington by John Aitken in 1797.
