Sack catalogue description: Hepplewhite cherry blockfront sideboard, a rare and pleasing variation of the blockfront form, the single door of the center concave section has a rectangular beaded panel with cut corners; the convex blocked end setions each contain two drawers with circular ring-turned brasses, the blocking is fashioned from the solid, square tapered legs and fine mellow color. Inside the upper left drawer is the 1931 label and guarantee of Israel Sack, which is shown; Israel Sack made a practice of placing this label in the pieces he sold only in that year, and we have since owned four or five similarly labeled examples. Each reflects the high standards of quality, authenticity and stature that Israel Sack maintained forty-four years ago and that we follow today; the inscription reads, "Hepplewhite cherry / sideboard - four drawer / small cupboard in center / circa 1770, Israel Sack." ----- Bibliography: Book: American Antiques from Israel Sack Collection, 10 vols.
