Sack catalogue description: Important Classical mahogany recamier sofa with rose and floral carving in star-punched background, Grecian key frieze pattern on seat frame. Carving attributed to Samuel McIntire; the crispness of the carving and the familiar motifs on accredited McIntire pieces justifies this attribution. Few Salem examples are known; a related example with turned legs is in the Cluett collection. ----- Bibliography: Book: American Antiques from Israel Sack Collection, 10 vols.
